We moved every server and network switch from our long-time home in Federal Way to the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/h5datacenters.com\/seattle-data-center.html\">H5 Data Centers<\/a><\/strong> facility at <strong>1000 Denny Way<\/strong> in downtown Seattle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"p-rc_1773079506126b1d-103\">As a company built on <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nobullnetworks.com\/blog\/transparent-amd-epyc-vps-pricing\/\">Radical Transparency<\/a><\/strong>, we aren\u2019t going to give you the marketing fluff. Moving owned hardware is a high-stakes operation. We faced a forced timeline, a brutal 16-hour maintenance window, and some complex technical hurdles, but the result is a massive leap forward for our customers\u2019 performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The &#8220;Why&#8221;: Beyond the Forced Lease End<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text is-stacked-on-mobile\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"864\" height=\"501\" src=\"https:\/\/www.nobullnetworks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/image.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-438 size-full\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.nobullnetworks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/image.png 864w, https:\/\/www.nobullnetworks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/image-300x174.png 300w, https:\/\/www.nobullnetworks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/image-768x445.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 864px) 100vw, 864px\" \/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p>In November 2025, we learned that our previous facility at the Cogent Communications building was shutting down due to a lease negotiation issue. We had until the end of March to vacate.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>While we could have moved to a cheaper location further inland, we chose the <strong>Lumen Technologies<\/strong> floor at 1000 Denny Way (the former Seattle Times building). This site is a Tier III powerhouse that supports Fortune 500 requirements and offers on-site security 24\/7. It puts our hardware at the heart of the Pacific Northwest&#8217;s internet backbone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Connectivity Stack: Global Reach, Local Speed<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>By moving to this facility, we\u2019ve unlocked a level of connectivity that simply wasn&#8217;t possible in Federal Way. We are no longer just a &#8220;well-connected&#8221; provider; we are now sitting in a premier carrier hotel with direct access to the world&#8217;s most robust networks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Our New Multi-Homed Backbone:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Lumen (formerly Level 3):<\/strong> By being on the Lumen floor, we tap into one of the most connected backbones globally.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Zayo:<\/strong> We\u2019ve maintained our Zayo partnership to ensure network continuity and stability.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Wholesail Networks (Ziply Fiber):<\/strong> This gives us incredible regional fiber depth and performance throughout the Northwest.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The Seattle SIX:<\/strong> We are currently in the process of entering peering on the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.seattleix.net\/\">Seattle Internet Exchange<\/a><\/strong>, which will allow us to trade traffic directly with hundreds of other networks, bypassing the &#8220;public&#8221; internet entirely.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">International Latency Gains: Hawaii, Japan, and Asia-Pacific<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>For our customers running international workloads, this move is a game-changer. 1000 Denny Way is a critical landing point for subsea cables. This means <strong>significantly lower latency to Hawaii, Japan, and other Asia-Pacific destinations.<\/strong> If your users are in Tokyo or Honolulu, your data is now taking a much shorter path to get to them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The &#8220;Bull&#8221;: 16 Hours in the Trenches<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"p-rc_1773079506126b1d-104\">We believe in being honest even when it\u2019s inconvenient<sup><\/sup>. We planned for a four-hour window; we hit <strong>16 hours<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What went wrong?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We hit two main snags once the hardware was racked in the new facility:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Strict Routing Security:<\/strong> Our internal security protocols were configured so strictly that they initially blocked the new routing paths, requiring manual intervention on every node.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>IP Constraints:<\/strong> Because we didn&#8217;t have enough spare IP addresses to &#8220;pre-test&#8221; the new environment at scale, we had to solve configuration issues in real-time under the clock.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"p-rc_1773079506126b1d-105\"><strong>Making it Right:<\/strong> At NoBull, <strong>Fairness<\/strong> is a core value<sup><\/sup><sup><\/sup><sup><\/sup><sup><\/sup>.
